How to Get Urgent Mental Health Help
If your life is at risk right now
If you feel like you might attempt suicide, or may have seriously harmed yourself, you need urgent medical help. Please:
- call 999 for an ambulance
- go straight to A&E, if you can
- or call your local crisis team, if you have their number.
If you can’t do this by yourself, ask someone to help you.
Mental health emergencies are serious. You’re not wasting anyone’s time.

We know that people with ADHD as a group have significantly higher rates of suicidal thoughts and self-harm and can have serious emotional and mental health issues.

If you are worried about someone else.
If you think someone is in immediate danger, the quickest way to get help is to call an ambulance on 999.
The Samaritans offer advice for when you are worried about someone else. You can also call them for advice – just call on 116 123. In limited circumstances they can also make calls out if you and they consider that might be beneficial.
