“Task Strategy. Positive use of delayed sending for email and messages”.

  1. Many message platforms support delayed sending -notably most email systems (including gmail and outlook), slack, iphone (support for iMessage, WhatsApp and SMS), android (support for SMS and message).
  2. Use delayed sending to:
    1. If sending outside ‘normal working hours’ to send inside those hours and avoid getting reaction replies outside of work times that you might not want to deal with.
    2. To avoid showing that you are working outside ‘normal working hours’ should you not wish to show that or if your organisation frowns on it.
    3. To set up “thank yous” or other post-event messages where you know that is desired.
